Performance
Ebac and its group of companies is a family owned private limited business, and has grown over the past 30 years from a 2 man band operating out of a garage to its current 200,000 square foot factory in Bishop Auckland and its 350 strong workforce. It took the management team 7 years to reach £1 million turnover per annum. We now average £1 million turnover every two weeks.
The Ebac Group is made up of a diverse mix of interdependent businesses including a sheet metal business, a plastic moulding business, an electronics business to serve the main manufacturing and selling operations. Our core products include Domestic Dehumidifiers, Water Coolers, Commercial Dehumidifiers and Air Conditioning units for the Rail industry.
In 1987 the annual turnover was £8 million of which less than 10% was export turnover. We now export in excess of 60% of the current annual turnover. We have a multilingual team on site in Bishop Auckland (including French, Belgium, German, Spanish, Italian and Dutch speakers) to serve the export business.
In the late 80's early 90's 50% of our turnover was made up of domestic dehumidifiers. This is a very seasonal winter product which meant we offered temporary employment contracts to our workforce. We invested in research to find a summer based product and launched our first water cooler in 1994 ensuring permanent employment contracts going forward. Water coolers have gone from strength to strength and we now have in the region of 50% of the European Cooler market. In 2000 we launched our first domestic cooler for residential use.
